“NCGM gives Somerset County the chance to bring greater awareness to the public about the many valuable programs that the County offers and it’s also a time to acknowledge our dedicated employees,” said Commissioner Deputy Director Melonie Marano. “Throughout the pandemic and during Hurricane Ida our employees have worked tirelessly to make it possible for residents to receive uninterrupted services.”

The National Association of Counties (NACo) launched NCGM in April 1991 to encourage counties to promote their services to residents. Due to the pandemic, there has been a greater appreciation for local government and how counties help protect, serve and support the public. According to the NACo, counties support more than 900 hospitals and operate over 1,900 public health departments.
