Somerset County Future Leaders Scholarship Opportunities

Applications will be accepted through January for by the Somerset County Democratic Committee Black Caucus.

The Somerset County Democratic Committee Black Caucus (SCDCBC) is pleased to announce that applications are still being accepted for the Somerset County Future Leaders Scholarship. The application acceptance period extended through January 28, 2022 deadline.

The Somerset County Future Leaders Scholarship recognizes undergraduate college students of African descent who reside in Somerset County and have "demonstrated a commitment to community activism and engagement towards their community’s socio-economic health and well-being in New Jersey."

Awards
Two undergraduate scholarship awards are available in the amount between $500.00 to $1000.00 each for a single year. Awards are for one year only; however, recipients may re-apply for a second year. All scholarship awards will be announced no later than February 18, 2022 and paid directly to the recipients at the SCDCBC Fundraiser and Scholarships on March 5, 2022.

Criteria
The scholarship is restricted to undergraduate students attending a 4-year or 2 year accredited college or university as a freshman, sophomore, or junior. Additionally, applicants must: (1) reside in Somerset County (2) have a declared major in the field of Social Sciences or a demonstrated interest in community activism (3) be a US citizen of African descent (4) have completed at least one (1) year of college credits by the time the award is received.
