The free July program for Somerset County students will run July 13-17, with registration extended to June 30.

SOMERSET COUNTY, NJ — Somerset County’s Prosecutor’s Office Police Training Institute will host Somerset County Police Youth Week from July 13 to July 17, with daily sessions scheduled from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The registration deadline has been extended to June 30.

Police Youth Week is described as a community-based program intended to build positive relationships between law enforcement and young people through education, mentorship and hands-on experiences.
During the week, participants will take part in activities led by police officers and community partners.

The program is meant to give students a behind-the-scenes look at law enforcement while promoting teamwork, leadership and personal responsibility.
The program is open to Somerset County high school students, including those graduating eighth grade through 2026 high school graduates.
It is sponsored by the Somerset County Association of Chiefs of Police, and there is no cost to attend.
The week will include interactive demonstrations, physical training, team-building exercises and discussions about public safety, decision-making and career pathways in criminal justice.
Police Youth Week is designed to provide a safe and supportive environment where youth can ask questions, develop trust and gain a better understanding of the role officers play in the community.
The program aims to strengthen community connections, empower young people and inspire future leaders by encouraging open communication and mutual respect.
