Somerset County Pak Commission Free Wellness Programs
Programs at Park Commission Headquarters & EEC

Applying funds donated by Whole Foods in Bridgewater, New Jersey, the Somerset County Park Foundation and the Somerset County Park Commission will continue the Wellness Program Series.
The Wellness Program Series, coordinated by the Recreation and Environmental Science Departments, will be free to the public and will feature one health-enhancing program each month at various park locations. Information is available at www.somersetcountyparks.org.

Adults with children ages 8 to 12 will experience relaxation, stretching, and fun, learning Yoga poses and breathing techniques for relaxation. In addition to gradual stretching and correct breathing, an emphasis will be placed on the children seeing the beauty in themselves and in others through effective and fun Yoga activities. A yoga mat is required. The seminar is free but space is limited to 24 people. A certified Yoga instructor from The School of Royal Yoga will lead the class. JUICING DEMONSTRATION

Juicing allows individuals to consume more nutrients by adding a variety of different vegetables. Without the pulp, the body can quickly and easily absorb the nutrients to improve nutrition and health. This workshop is presented by Dr. Claudia Tamas of Natural Medicine and Rehabilitation. HERBAL TEA MAKING

Adults will join horticultural therapist, Pat Czarnecki for an educational hands-on Herbal Tea Workshop. Participants will explore the difference between teas and herbal infusions, create custom blends using a variety of all natural, aromatic, and flavor-full herbs, spices, and teas, package custom blends for gift giving to take home, and enjoy a relaxing and uplifting “tea time”. Adults will join representatives from the Somerset County Department of Health to discuss the basics of drinking water well systems and concepts surrounding safe drinking water. This presentation will include topics related to drinking water safety, testing, treatment, system maintenance, and environmental conditions which may affect water obtained from private wells.
