Students To Host Gun Reform Rally At Somerset County Courthouse

Students from the 7th Congressional District are invited to participate in the Parkland Pledge's rally on Wednesday at 4 p.m. in Somerville.

SOMERVILLE, NJ — Students attending Somerset County VoTech will be hosting a student rally supporting common-sense gun reform at the Somerset County Courthouse on Wednesday.

The rally is being hosted by the Parkland Pledge, a new student-lead gun reform organization based in central New Jersey.

“Parkland was a horrible tragedy that catalyzed a lot of student action and woke up a lot of students to political and legislative realities,” said Sid Shankar, a senior at VoTech and a volunteer with the student organization.

Shankar and the other students are hoping this rally will allow them to express their support for common-sense gun reform and to pressure Congressman Leonard Lance to stand up for student safety.

As the organization builds momentum, they have also created an Instagram page, @parklandpledge, and a change.org petition here. For more informaton on the rally click here.

Shankar is inviting all students the 7th Congressional District to join the rally.
