Perantoni is a lifelong Somerville resident, a passionate community advocate and a devoted Y member and volunteer. His father was the original architect of the Somerville YMCA building, which was built in 1960. Perantoni expressed deep gratitude for the opportunity to be part of the partnership between the Y and the PeopleCare Center.

“To say I am honored and appreciative of this gift to our Y is a complete understatement,” said Perantoni. “When I first learned of it, I was moved to tears in part because of my love for the Y community and equally for the generosity of spirit from those offering this support to us. It comes at a time when all of us, and children especially, seek to renew our faith in the good that occurs when we support each other.”
