Middlemist Meadery Expands With Full-Service Coffee Shop In Somerset County
The Somerville venue is adding coffee, events and private bookings as it builds out its community-focused space.
SOMERVILLE, NJ — Middlemist meadery in Somerville has expanded its operations with a full-service coffee shop.
Middlemist at 30 East Main St. first opened on April 18 and expanded last week to offer coffee.
"We recently got permission from Somerville to open earlier and serve coffee, and we’ve opened up our full-service coffee shop," Owner Ilija Melentijevic told Patch.

He said the addition fits the business's original plan for the space.
"With the space, we overall had a vision of creating a community third space, and coffee lets us fill that in for the morning hours instead of just the evening kind of happy hour vibes," Melentijevic said.

He said the expansion also gives the business a way to serve customers who are not looking for alcoholic drinks.
"We're hoping to make it like a whole day hangout type of atmosphere," Melentijevic said.
He said the venue has a 130-person capacity and is meant to be a more relaxed setting where people can stay, work and meet.
For now, the coffee menu is drink-focused.
Melentijevic said Middlemist offers drip coffee, espresso drinks, cappuccinos, lattes, specialty lattes, teas and hot chocolate.
"We have right now a honey nut specialty latte that our coffee manager Seth came up with," he said.
He also said the shop is offering honey-inspired foams and plans to add several varietal honey options.
Since opening in April, Melentijevic said the community response has been positive and that Middlemist is continuing to add programming.
He said the business now has live music every Friday, a board game night on Monday and trivia on Tuesday.
