Star and Laser Shows Slated at RVCC Planetarium

Branchburg, NJ -- The Raritan Valley Community College Planetarium in Branchburg is planning star and laser shows for the entire family in February. The following programs will be offered:

Perfect Little Planet, Saturdays, Feb. 6, 13, 20, 27, 3 p.m.
A family from another star system is seeking the perfect vacation spot. Fly over the surface of Pluto, our best known dwarf planet; sail through the rings of Saturn; feel Jupiter’s lightning storms; and walk on the surface of Mars. Which destination will the family choose? (Recommended for ages 6-12)

Laser Magic, Saturdays, Feb. 6, 13, 20, 27, 4 p.m.

Enjoy a laser show featuring songs by a variety of artists. Selections include “We Are All Made of Stars” by Moby, “We Will Rock You” by Queen, “Best Day of My Life” by American Authors, and “Let It Go,” sung by Idina Menzel. (Recommended for ages 6-12)

Exploding Universe, Feb. 6, 20, 27, 7 p.m.

The Universe we see today is the product of explosive events, such as comet collisions, supernovae, and the Big Bang, or, on a smaller scale, super-volcanoes and high energy particles. Discover how the Universe has transformed and how nature has participated in rebirth and renewal. (Recommended for ages 10-adult)

Laser Led Zeppelin, Feb. 6 and 20, 8 p.m.

Listen to songs by Led Zeppelin as lasers draw pictures on the dome overhead. The show features the group’s hit songs, such as “Battle of Evermore,” “Stairway to Heaven,” and “Houses of the Holy.”

Laser Queen, Feb 13 and27, 8 p.m.

Listen to songs by Queen as lasers draw pictures on the dome overhead. Featured songs include “Crazy Little Thing Called Love,” “Another One Bites the Dust,” “Under Pressure,” and “We Are the Champions.”
