Still No Contract For Bridgewater Teachers, Mediation Date Set
Bridgewater-Raritan teachers have been working without a contract since July 1 due to an impasse over the issues of health care and salary.

BRIDGEWATER, NJ — Teachers are continuing to work without a contract and negotiations will continue after both sides could not come to a resolution at the most recent Board of Education meeting.
Teachers sporting red shirts rallied outside the Bridgewater-Raritan Regional School District BOE meeting and also wore them inside on Nov. 13.
The Bridgewater-Raritan Education Association and Board of Education met for about four hours.

"Though no settlement was reached, we are encouraged by the board’s willingness to acknowledge the importance of long-term relief from Chapter 78 to our members," the BREA stated. "Through their efforts to rally prior to the start of mediation, BREA leaders and members made it clear that we will accept nothing less than a fair and equitable settlement; we believe the board heard us. We remain steadfast in that resolve and are looking forward to our next meetings with the Board."
Since a resolution could not be made on the contract, the next mediation session is scheduled for Dec. 10 at the Wade Building, 836 Newmans Ln. in Martinsville.
