Storm To Impact NJ On Mother's Day Weekend: See Latest Forecast

Soaking rain, flooding, strong winds, coastal flooding and beach erosion are expected to damper the start of Mother's Day weekend in NJ.

NEW JERSEY — A slow-moving coastal storm bringing soaking rain, flooding, and high winds is rolling into New Jersey creating a soggy start to Mother's Day weekend.

Soaking rain is expected to fall from the Midwest to the mid-Atlantic coast from Friday through Saturday, according to Accuweather.

Heavy rains will bring the potential of flash flooding and small stream flooding as well, according to Accuweather.

Along with the soaking rain, New Jersey can expect strong winds, coastal flooding and beach erosion, according to the National Weather Service.

Rainfall is expected to hit the Garden State around 11 a.m. on Friday amounting to between a tenth and quarter of an inch of rain possible during the day.

Periods of rain will then continue Friday night bringing another three quarters to one inch of rain possible.

Winds will pick up on Saturday along with more rain. A northeast wind up 10 to 20 mph is expected, with gusts as high as 30 mph, according to NWS.

Wet conditions are expected to continue overnight Saturday before slowly drying out after 8 a.m. on Sunday.

Thursday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 74. Northeast wind around 5 mph.

Thursday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 52. Southeast wind around 5 mph becoming calm.

Friday: Periods of rain, mainly after 11 a.m. High near 62. Calm wind becoming east around 5 mph in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 100 percent. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.

Friday Night: Periods of rain. Low around 49. Northeast wind 5 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90 percent. New precipitation amounts between three quarters and one inch possible.

Saturday: Periods of rain. High near 52. Breezy, with a northeast wind 10 to 20 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90 percent. New precipitation amounts between a half and three quarters of an inch possible.

Saturday Night: Rain likely before 2 a.m., then a chance of showers after 2 a.m. Cloudy, with a low around 42. Chance of precipitation is 70 percent. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.

Sunday: A chance of showers before 8am. Partly sunny, with a high near 59. Chance of precipitation is 30 percent.
