SOMERSET COUNTY, NJ — Changes in the taste and odor of New Jersey American Water is being reported by customers in the Raritan System and surrounding areas, said the water company in an urgent message.
"We are investigating and continuing to sample throughout our system. We will also be flushing hydrants overnight in an effort to help clear the system, which may result in low pressure and/or discoloration for customers," said NJ American Water.
If customers' water is discolored, run the cold water taps only, at the lowest level of the house for about 3 to 5 minutes until the water runs clear.
