Teacher Fired from Bridgewater-Raritan to Get Job Back, $127,586
State Commissioner of Education David Hespe said Tamara Manzur had earned tenure in the school district before being fired

Bridgewater, NJ -- The Bridgewater-Raritan School District must pay $127,586.67 in back salary to a teacher who was laid off even though she had gained tenure, according to mycentraljersey.com.
Tamara Manzur, the teacher in question, was found to have earned tenure in the school district before her contract was not renewed for the 2011-12 school year by State Commissioner of Education David Hespe, according to mycentraljersey.com.
Along with the payment the school district must hire Manzur back and reimburse the state Department of Labor for unemployment benefits that Manzur had received, according to mycentraljersey.com.

“The school district had argued that Manzur was not eligible for tenure because she was hired as a replacement sixth-grade teacher at Eisenhower Intermediate School in September 2006 and continued as a replacement through the 2007-08 school year and did not earn credit toward tenure because she was not hired as a regular teacher until the 2008-09 school year,” according to mycentraljersey.com.
