Upscale Modern Sushi Restaurant Opens In Bridgewater, Brings New York City Vibe

Showcasing the art of modern sushi, owners of Ryujin Sushi pride themselves in offering high-quality fish.

BRIDGEWATER, NJ — From the precise cooling temperatures to how a fish is sliced, the owners of Bridgewater's newest upscale modern sushi restaurant are top of their game.

Julie Wahyueli and Jin Zhang Lin recently held a grand opening for their first brick and mortar restaurant Ryujin Sushi at 1339 Prince Rodgers Ave. in Bridgewater.

"We are excited to be here," said Wahyueli.

The pair had run a sushi business for many years hosting events at Ninety Acres in Peapack, weddings, and at-home private events.

"We wanted to bring the concept of modern sushi to New Jersey without having to travel to New York City," said Wahyueli.

Zhang Lin has trained and worked for a famous Japanese chef in New York City for many years before branching off on his own. His chefs working for him all have at least 10 to 15 years of experience in the business.

"It takes some time to be a very good chef," said Wahyueli.

Wahyueli added the importance of the knowledge needed to understand each and every fish.

"Each fish has different ways on how it is maintained," said Wahyueli.

Buying the fish, storing it properly, slicing it, and even making the perfect sushi rice — all of these elements play into creating ideal sushi.

"It's all about the time and effort," said Wahyueli. "It's not about price its about the quality."

Along with sushi, Ryujin offers soup, salad, Ramen, Wagyu, teriyaki and rice, tea, and noodles.

The restaurant is open for dine-in, take-out, and in-store pick-up.
