World War II veteran Lt. Colonel Bob Vaucher of Bridgewater is fighting to keep his best friend's final wish to preserve a 36-acre tract of undeveloped land in the township. Wemple had in his will that the land was never to be developed and was to stay as open space and preserved, but after his passing his will was over turned as he and his witness' were declared incompetent.

Vaucher's fight began in 2017 and since then through various partnerships, Bridgewater Residents United have raised $1.85 million of the $1.95 million that is required to purchase the lot.

"Once purchased it can be used as open space for all – to recount history where Washington led his troops and for those to enjoy nature," the group stated.

"Please join me in making HISTORY – your donation is not only saving this property for our children but also honoring Bob’s wish – he has dedicated his life to Bridgewater! This is the least we can do!" Bridgewater Residents United stated.

Donations are tax deductible and if the deal falls through the donations are fully revocable.
