Van Ignites Into Flames Near Route 28 In Bound Brook

Firefighters worked for about 30 minutes to get the fire under control on Monday afternoon.

BOUND BROOK, NJ — A van ignited into flames while parked in a lot off Route 28 in Bound Brook on Monday afternoon.

The fire was reported just before 2 p.m. on Oct. 3 on Route 28 near the BP Gas Station across from the Shop Rite shopping center, said Acting Chief of Police Richard S. Colombaroni.

Firefighters from Bound Brook along with neighboring areas such as Finderne helped put out the fire.

"Crews operated for approximately 30 minutes before being released," according to Finderne Fire Department.

The vehicle had been parked with no one inside. There were no reported injuries, said Colombaroni.

"Unfortunately due to the substantial amount of damage sustained to the vehicle, the cause is being labeled as undetermined in nature. The vehicle will be turned over to insurance investigators for further analysis," said Bound Brook Fire Marshal Erik Mickelson.
