Veterans Appreciation Day - Family Fun Day

Touch a Truck, Honor a Vet

The Rotary Club of Branchburg is hosting the 8th Annual Veterans Appreciation Day at Central Jersey Regional Airport located at 1034 Millstone River Road, Hillsborough on Saturday, June 9th from 12:00 – 5:00 PM. Veteran Service organizations will be available to answer and assist any vets with questions or problems they’re having with services or benefits they need from the VA. Welcome Home Vets of NJ, New Jersey Veterans Network, Operation Jersey Cares, Operation ChillOut and the VFW of Manville and several other organizations will be on hand to educate veterans and the public alike. Special consideration has been given to making this event a “FAMILY FUN DAY” as we honor our “VETERANS” and active military.

This year, the Rotary Club of Branchburg focused on bringing family and veterans together as a means to teach children the value of veteran services and the role our active military play with securing freedoms in the USA. A “Touch a Truck” display will be available for kids to view and explore. They will also have the opportunity to operate a piece of excavation equipment as they dig, remove and pile dirt from one location to another. “Touch a Truck – Help a Vet.” Like last year, there will be an area reserved on the tarmac for kids to spray paint a thank you message or picture to our service men and women with spray chalk donated by DuPont for the occasion. A bounce house, face painting, military vehicle display, classic car display, military flyovers and a static airplane display will also be available. Air plane rides will be provided by TriState Aviation, the FBO/Flight School at the airport.

Admission to the event is free, but there will be a slight charge for use of the bounce house, excavation equipment and food and drinks throughout the arena. Plane rides will be available for a cost of $30 per person. This year, the Rotary Club of Branchburg has been fortunate enough to obtain a benefactor that will match funds raised by this event up to $25,000. These funds are earmarked to support non-profit veteran agencies that provide services for our vets and active military. Most of the club’s fundraising is done through sponsorships by businesses and private contributions. The Rotary Club of Branchburg hopes to meet the $25,000 through these contributions, which would bring the total amount raised to $50,000 thanks to their matching benefactor. If you’re interested in supporting this fund raiser, please contact Jodi DiPane at 908-962-6956 or email at secretary@branchburgrotarynj.org if you would like more information.
