What's On Bridgewater Council's Agenda This Thursday? Millions In Bonds

BRIDGEWATER, NJ — Bridgewater Township Council is set to hold public hearings and final votes on Thursday on three bond ordinances totaling more than $8.6 million for emergency radio communications, road improvements, and drainage work throughout the township.

The regular session meeting will be held in person with a live stream on Thursday at 7 p.m.

The largest of the three ordinances would appropriate $4,205,000 for a new emergency radio communications system, authorizing the issuance of $3,994,750 in bonds or notes to help finance the project.

A second ordinance would appropriate $1,900,000 for road improvements at several locations, including Country Club Road, Ardsley Lane and Goldfinch Drive under the NJDOT FY 2025 Municipal Aid Project; Van Veghten Drive and South Avenue under the NJDOT FY 2024 Local Transportation Projects Fund Project; and preliminary engineering for a Safe Routes to School project on Garretson Road. The work includes curbing, milling, paving, drainage and other improvements, along with road overlays elsewhere in the township. The ordinance authorizes $1,805,000 in bonds or notes for financing.

A third ordinance would appropriate $2,500,000 for drainage improvements in several areas, including the Spring Run neighborhood, the area around 1024 Brown Road, and the Brown Road/Carteret Road area, along with other drainage work throughout the township. It authorizes $2,375,000 in bonds or notes.

The council will also introduce no new ordinances, but is scheduled to vote on three resolutions: authorizing a sewer overpayment refund for a property at 754 Route 202; appointing Kirsten Forsythe to the Bridgewater-Raritan Youth Services Commission; and awarding a contract for the Phillip & David Miller Park basketball improvement project.

The council will also review meeting minutes from its June 25 regular session and hold a closed session following the public agenda.
