Woman In Crosswalk Hit By 2 Vehicles, Killed In Bridgewater

The woman was hit by a tractor trailer and then a car driven by a Bedminster man on Tuesday afternoon.

BRIDGEWATER, NJ — A woman walking in a marked crosswalk was killed after she was hit by a tractor trailer and then a car on Tuesday in Bridgewater, police said.

At 1:02 p.m., the woman, who has not been identified, was walking south and crossing Union Avenue (Route 28) at the intersection of Finderne Avenue in a marked crosswalk when she was hit by a 2001 International tractor trailer being driven by Kevin Sonnon of Lebanon, Pennsylvania, Bridgewater Police Sgt. Kevin Lamey said.

The pedestrian was then hit by a 2018 Hyundai Elantra being driven by Richard Katz of Bedminster, Lamey said.

The pedestrian died at the scene, Lamey said.

The Bridgewater Township Police Department Traffic Safety Bureau and the Somerset County Prosecutor's Office Collision Analysis Reconstruction Team (C.A.R. Team) are investigating the cause of the crash. No charges have been filed at this time.
