Woman Found Dead After 911 Call In Somerset County

SOMERVILLE, NJ — A woman was found dead with multiple lacerations in Somerville on Thursday night, said Somerset County Prosecutor John P. McDonald.

At around 7:26 p.m., a 911 call was made reporting concerns for the welfare of a female resident of Brookside Avenue in Somerville.

Officers found the woman with multiple lacerations to her chest, neck and thigh, said McDonald.

The female victim, whom authorities are only identifying as a 46-year-old Somerville resident, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Somerville Police Detectives, along with detectives from the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit, Crime Scene Investigations Unit, and Medical Investigators from the New Jersey Northern Regional Medical Examiner’s Office are investigating.

A postmortem examination will be performed by the Medical Examiner’s Office to positively identify the victim and to determine the cause and manner of death.

The investigation is ongoing to identify the people involved along with motive.
