2 Men Tried To Steal ATM From Hotel In Essex County, Police Say
Witnesses said they saw two men in masks with a hand truck standing near the ATM.
ESSEX COUNTY, NJ — Two men tried to steal an ATM from a hotel in Essex County last week, authorities say.
Police are investigating an attempted theft that took place at the Fairfield Executive Inn on Sept. 17.
Witnesses said they saw two men with a hand truck near the ATM at 9:06 p.m. Both were dressed in green hooded jackets, black surgical masks, dark pants and a baseball cap, police said.

Hotel staff contacted police, but the two men fled the scene before officers arrived. Officers later found that wires leading to the machine had been removed.
