5K Run for Education Set for May 16 Announces Caldwell-West Caldwell Education Foundation
The Caldwell-West Caldwell Education Foundation is hosting its first annual 5K Run/Walk for Education to benefit the CWC public schools.
The Caldwell-West Caldwell Education Foundation (CWCEF) has announced its first 5K Run/Walk for Education, Saturday, May 16, 9:00am, starting and ending at James Caldwell High School. The 5K is sanctioned by the NJ Track and Field Organization and is a certified 500 Grand Prix event. Proceeds will go directly to fund creative programs and new technology at the Caldwell-West Caldwell public schools.
CWC Superintendent of Schools, James Heinegg, will start the race at 9:00am at the entrance of James Caldwell High School. Runners will head east on Westville Avenue, through beautiful Grover Cleveland park and loop back around to the high school, for a total of 5K (3.1 miles). The CWCEF 5K is targeted at professional, as well as casual runners and walkers. “We designed the 5K Run/Walk for Education as a fun, community event where professional runners can challenge themselves and families can choose to run or walk--and everyone can enjoy the Continental breakfast, DJ/music, and vendors--while raising funds for our students,” said Karen Treacy, 5K Co-Chair.
Prizes will be awarded to two overall winners and 1st, 2nd, 3rd male/female place winners in five year age increments (10 and under through 65+ years). The 5K awards ceremony is at 10:30am. Scoring and timing will be conducted by Tristate Timing.
