CALDWELL, NJ — The Caldwell Police Department recently recognized several local officers and a sergeant from North Caldwell for showing “professionalism, courage and restraint” during a high-risk incident earlier this year.
According to a social media post from the CPD:
“The Caldwell Police Department proudly recognizes Sgt. Kevin O’Neill, officers Joseph Daniels, Christopher Bernard and Robert Nicoletti, and North Caldwell Sgt. Paul O’Neill for their professionalism, courage, and restraint during a high-risk incident involving a reported armed subject on April 23, 2026. Responding officers were met with a rapidly evolving and dangerous situation. Through calm professionalism, sound tactics, teamwork and effective communication – including overcoming a language barrier – the officers safely took the suspect into custody without injury to anyone involved.”
“Incidents like these highlight the dedication, discipline, and restraint our officers demonstrate in the most challenging circumstances,” the CPD stated. “We are also grateful for the strong partnership we share with the North Caldwell Police Department, whose assistance was invaluable.”
