Essex Co Freeholders Honor State Champion Mt. St. Dominic Girls Track Team


During its Wednesday, June 13th, meeting held at the Hall of Records, the Essex County Board of Chosen Freeholders honored the Mount Saint Dominic Academy Girls Track Team of Caldwell for having won both the 2012 Non-Public B Indoor and Outdoor State Championships.  Freeholder Vice President Patricia Sebold of Livingston and Freeholder Leonard Luciano of West Caldwell co-sponsored and presented the Board’s Commendation to members of the team who were accompanied by Head Coach Asim Kohli, Assistant Coach Allison Case and Athletic Director Lorenzo Lozio.

The Mount Saint Dominic Academy Girls Winter Track Team won its third consecutive Non-Public B Indoor State Championship on Friday, February 17, 2012, in Toms River, when it finished far ahead of its nearest competitor, Gill St. Bernard’s School, by the score of 88-37.  In addition to its state championship, the Winter Track Team finished in 1st Place overall in the Super Essex Conference American Division Championships; 2nd Place overall in the Non-Public B State Relay Championships; 3rd Place in the Essex County Individual Championships; 2nd Place overall in the NJCTC Championships; and put in outstanding performances at the New Balance Games, New Balance Collegiate Invitational, Eastern States Championship, Millrose Games and New Balance Indoor Nationals.

Before winning its first-ever Outdoor State Championship on Saturday, June 2, 2012, in South Plainfield, the Mount Saint Dominic Academy Girls Spring Track Team won its first-ever North Jersey Non-Public B Sectional Championship on May 25-26th over second-place Eastern Christian High School, 112-65.  The team then went on to capture its State Championship, again far ahead of second-place Eastern Christian, 100-52.  The team also finished in 4th Place in the Super Essex Conference American Division Large School; 3rd Place in the Essex County Individual Championships; 5th Place in the Essex County Relays; 1st Place in the Randolph Relays; and put in an outstanding performance at the East Coast Relays.

The Mount Saint Dominic Academy Girls Track Team is comprised of: Seniors” Yona Bauzil (Outdoor only), Beatrice Beljour (Indoor only), Ashlynn Fields, Raina Glover, Kathleen McCurdy, Hannah McTiernan, Kelsey O’Driscoll, Jamie Purcell (Indoor only) and Sarah Talmadge; Juniors: Nicole DeStefano, Gabriela Johnston, Eva Marie Larson and Kerrianne Masucci (Outdoor only); Sophomores :Jessica Brodsky, Alissa Casas (Indoor only), Amanda Corbosiero, Kimberly DeLuca, Lillian Giannoglou, Krystyna Green (Indoor only), Erin Mihalik, Clelia Ryan (Outdoor only) and Maria Serafini; Freshmen: Sydney Corvelli (Indoor only), Katherine Corwin (Indoor only), Vanessa Francisco (Indoor only), Alana Frederique (Outdoor only), Caroline Haskins, Alana Herran, Amari Hyatt, Alexandra Langdon (Indoor only), Maeve Naughton (Indoor only), Gianna Parlavecchio, Paige Massaker (Outdoor only), Daniella Simari (Indoor only) and Sarah Workman.  The team was coached by Head Coach Asim Kohli, Assistant Coach Allison Case and Volunteer Coach Lawrence Athill.
