Another Burglary in West Caldwell, This Time on Westville Avenue
Sunday night burglary is fifth reported in the township since Dec. 15.

West Caldwell Police are investigating another residential burglary in the township, raising the count to five burglaries in a month.
The latest break-in took place on Westville Avenue, where jewelry was reported missing on Sunday night, according to police.
Police say the burglary took place between 3 and 8:45 p.m. on Jan. 15. The burglar or burglars forced open the front door of the house, which was locked, and focused on two bedrooms.

Officers are canvassing the area, speaking to residents to see if they observed anything out of the ordinary over the weekend, according to Chief Michael Bramhall.
The WCPD issued a public service announcement last week asking residents to be vigilant and . Residents are encouraged to call 9-1-1 for emergencies and 973-226-4114 for non-emergencies. Details, such as location, day, time and descriptions of suspects and suspicious vehicles, are most helpful.

Police are asking residents to keep their doors and windows locked and to use alarms if they have them.
All the recent burglaries remain under investigation.
