Back To School In The Caldwells: What's New On 2022-23 Calendars In Caldwells, West Essex

THE CALDWELLS, NJ — Back-to-school planning has begun in Caldwell, North Caldwell, and West Caldwell.

With COVID still a factor, boards of education have often had to adjust school schedules several times throughout the year — meaning parents must always check back to see if the calendar is updated, before making plans.

In fact, the West Essex calendar was revised most recently just last week, on Aug. 3.

• In the West Essex school district, which includes North Caldwell, schools reopen to students on Wednesday, Aug. 31. However, they also tentatively will end a week earlier in June than in Caldwell.
• In the Caldwell-West Caldwell Schools, schools open later, starting Thursday, Sept. 8.

This year, students in both districts are off Nov. 10-11 for NJEA Convention days.

Here are some breaks on the school calendars for 2022-23:

• Thanksgiving Break: Nov. 24-25 (half day Nov. 23) (Both districts)
• Winter Break: Dec. 24-Jan. 2, 2023 (half day Dec. 23) (Both districts)
• Spring Break: April 7-16 (Both districts)
• Last Day, Tentatively: June 16 in West Essex; June 23 in Caldwell-West Caldwell
