Batchmakers, Batchmakers Make Me a Batch

Batchmakers Homemade Ice Cream is an independent ice cream shop in Cedar Grove where the owners prides themselves on making high-quality ice cream on-site daily.

They serve everything from traditional creamy vanilla to the more exotic Red Velvet Cupcake ice cream and Peanut Butter Explosion. Mint Chocolate Chip seems to be one of the more popular flavors.

Joe Gasparino, owner of Batchmakers, was born and raised in Cedar Grove, and still lives in town. He opened Batchmakers in April with his wife, Kristie, after he was laid off from his job last year.

When he was younger, he was involved in the food business, so when his friend who owns a Rita’s recommended that he get into the ice cream business, he decided to open up his own place.  

Gasparino took some classes at Ice Cream University (based in West Orange), and learned how to make ice cream. He was hooked! He fell in love with ice cream making and loves creating his own unique flavors.  Gasparino makes all his ice cream flavors on the premises.  

Low fat and sugar free options are also available to cater to various dietary needs. Gasparino keeps two low-fat ice cream flavors available in the store at all times, as well as frozen yogurt. And while all the basics are always on hand, the menu is also sprinkled with a number of off-the-beaten-path flavors. They also make cakes for special occasions.

Come by to enjoy a scoop of your favorite flavor on their lovely outdoor patio! Parking is available in the back of the store. Gasparino promises that one can also safely park at the neighboring bank without being towed.

Their flavors are constantly changing, so always check for a new and exciting flavor. They are even willing to take suggestions!

Toppings include: Hot Fudge, Peanut Butter, Heath Bar, Snickers, Peanut Butter Cup, M&M's, Coconut, Gummy Bears, Double Stuff Oreo, Granola, Lucky Charms, Chocolate Stones, White Chocolate Chips, Pineapple, Captain Crunch, Wet Walnuts, Strawberry, Whatchamacallit, Caramel, Peanut Butter, Pretzel, Whip Cream, Nerds, Kit Kat, Butterfinger, Chocolate Sprinkles, Rainbow Sprinkles, and Dark Chocolate Chips.

Coming in the fall are homemade soups. Batchmakers will offer six varieties of soup and two kinds of chili (turkey and traditional beef).
