Dog Tails - Walter

All about Walter, our American Bulldog looking for a foster/permanent home.

Walter (affectionately known as Chewie although neither Sam or I remember exactly WHY) is one of our rescued dogs at Sit Stay Learn.  He was dumped at a kill shelter and adopted out to a family who had him for about five months. Even though Walter likes other dogs, when the family decided to get a Boston Terrier, he didn't like Walter at all. Sadly, Walter was returned.

This animal of which I have been told is an American Bulldog that I am certain is mixed with Moose is one of Sam's favorite dogs in our rescue. I'm the German Shephard fan, and Sam has determined that German Shephards are annoying after she fostered "The Flash" (more on The Flash later) so what do I know from American Bulldogs?

Sam kept shreiking, "He's so cute!!"  while I stared at him wondering who was going to sit in the back seat with this monster. Wait, was he drooling?  Ew!  Hey, this dog is flippin HUGE!  Oh no, she's not going to ask me to...and, to the back seat I go to share my seat with Walter.

Anyway, I'm sure I'll get back at Sam for that at some later date when one of the dogs gets explosive diarrhea at one of our rescue events two minutes after I leave to get coffee, but back to Walter.  Walter, it turns out, is great in the car and spent a two hour ride with his head on my lap patiently waiting during a pounding rainstorm for us to reach our destination.

It would be an understatement to say that he's a big boy - about 90 lbs and as my friend Sam says, "A bit of a clutz, because he's so big." He's hard not to love, though.  He's housebroken, not destructive, loves rawhides and loves being petted.

Walter is neutered, up to date on all vaccinations, and a big, sweet healthy boy. He is a sensitive guy who cowers if you yell at him (so please don't).  He responds best to positive reinforcement and would do really well in a loving house with a fenced in yard.
