Featured Adoptable Pet: Cypress
Cypress is a very sweet girl and would make a great pet, but her diagnosis intimidates most people. She needs an understanding owner with a big heart to show her unconditional love.

My name is Cypress and I’m such a sweet girl that loves to cuddle and show affection to people. I’m FIV positive which means that although I have this diagnosis, I can still lead a long, happy life with a caring and responsible owner. FIV is a largely misunderstood disease and most people are under the impression that it can be transmitted to other cats through regular daily contact, but this is definitely not the case, as its almost always only transmitted through a deep bite wound, and only with other cats, not dogs or people!

Because of my FIV, I need to be either in a home with no other cats or a home with cats that also have FIV. If you’d like to learn more about FIV check out the links below, and with a proper diet and some preventative measures I can live a great life and give you lots of love!

Thankfully I’ve been given a second chance at the Wayne Township Animal Shelter and all the shelter staff think that I have so much potential as a great companion to someone and they always tell people how sweet I am, but most times people are just intimidated by my FIV diagnosis. I still hold out hope to find someone that is understanding and willing to give me unconditional love. My only option is to wait patiently, as I have for a very long time, and hope that someone sees beyond my FIV and realize that I would make a great pet. I’m very friendly, with a sweet and mellow personality and I’m playful too! I just need someone to realize that my FIV won’t prevent me from loving them, and hopefully I can find an owner with a big heart to give me a chance so that I can get out of this lonely shelter cage and into a loving home.
Please come to meet me and maybe you can be my long awaited forever home! When I see you come through the door, I promise if you just stop at my cage for awhile you’ll love me, but not as much as I’ll love you for rescuing me from my shelter cage and giving me a second chance at finding happiness and love. Just because I’m not perfect that doesn’t mean I can’t love you just as much as a kitty without FIV and if you give me a chance I will steal your heart for sure.
