Featured Adoptable Pet: Leo!!!

Leo is a great cat, very affectionate and playful. He would make a perfect pet and there is no reason he should be waiting in the shelter so long. He's a favorite with staff and volunteers!

FEATURED ADOPTABLE PET AT THE WAYNE TOWNSHIP ANIMAL SHELTER

LEO

MY STORY:

I’d like to introduce myself to you!  My name is Leo and I was rescued from a home where my owner could no longer care for me, but thankfully I was given a second chance at the Wayne Township Animal Shelter.  At first I was really scared being in a strange place, couldn’t understand why I was in a cage and was really sad that I no longer had a home.  But the only option that I had is to wait patiently, as I have for a very long time, and see, smell and hear the same things every day, when all I really want is to be in a home where maybe instead of staring out through metal bars I can stare out the window and watch cars, birds and people and be able to cuddle with someone for awhile instead of just being alone in my cage.  I’ve been at the shelter for such a long time watching people pass me by and I just don’t understand why since I’m a really good cat, very affectionate, love to be held, a super playful guy and well behaved.  Yet I’m still waiting here for someone to notice me just once and think that maybe I’m worth giving a chance, instead of that other cat in the cage next to mine.

All the shelter staff and volunteers love me and say that I would make the perfect pet and even they don’t understand why I’ve been overlooked all this time.  They tell me there are a lot of cats to choose from and maybe its just bad luck for me since there is no other reason a great cat like me shouldn't have a home.  They do their best to comfort me and love me, but I still feel sad because all I know how to do is wait and hope to be able to feel love in a forever home, not in a shelter.  When people come to visit the shelter I try really hard to show them how friendly I am and let them know how much I want to come home with them, but so far no one has taken me with them, so I still wait.

Even though I’ve been so lonely and bored in my shelter cage for what seems like forever, I still hold out hope that someone might love me one day and I watch the door carefully every time someone comes in to visit and think that maybe this time its going to be the person that I’ve been waiting for to take me with them.  Please come to meet me and maybe you can be my long awaited forever home!  When I see you come through the door, I promise if you just give me a chance and stop at my cage for awhile you’ll love me, but not as much as I’ll love you for rescuing me from my shelter cage.
