Seniors enjoy breakfast and spring musical at West Essex Regional High School.
More than 190 West Essex senior citizens enjoyed the West Essex Regional High School senior citizen breakfast and spring musical preview at the high school on March 20.
First, seniors enjoyed a delicious breakfast prepared and served by the high school's talented culinary students. The menu includes individual broccoli and red pepper quiches, fresh fruit salad, sour cream coffee cake, blueberry muffin, apple sauce muffins, homemade granola bars and other goodies.
"The kids are great servers," said Ann Chieppa of West Caldwell. "The are very enthusiastic about serving. The quiche is excellent."Nearby Grace Valente of West Caldwell raved about the breakfast food. "The kids are so polite and I love everything, especially the sour cream coffee cake-that was just exceptional."

Later, the seniors moved to the High School Auditorium where the West Essex Masquers performed the first act from the spring musical "Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street" School Edition. The seniors enjoyed the music, the acting and the beautiful scenery, built by the West Essex Masquers tech crew.
Mrs. Chieppa also said that she loves the music of Sondheim and was thrilled when she learned the Masquers were performing one of his musicals. Lucille and Bill Gleason of West Caldwell sald all of the students did a wonderful job and that "West Essex has such a nice bunch of kids."
