Silence the Giants

As a kid my favorite story was always David & Goliath. Strangely, my son now has an obsession with the massiveness of Goliath. He asks if every tall person he sees is bigger than Goliath or ‘is a tree bigger than Goliath?’ He even asked me if Jesus was taller than Goliath, and I said well no, he probably wasn’t. This really shook his theology of things because that would mean that Goliath is bigger than God and possibly stronger. I assured my son, that God is certainly stronger than Goliath.

How often in our lives do we ask that  very question, ‘God are you bigger than my Goliath?’ Is God bigger than your greatest fear, your most crucial need or that which brings discouragement? The David and Goliath scenario is the embodiment of rising to the occasion. We often look at the great challenges before us to be our demise, yet God wants to release great opportunity & blessings as we trust Him. Today, I don’t know what will come your way, but when we’re trusting God we have what it takes to rise to every occasion. Long before David faced off with Goliath the children of Israel were in the wilderness on the edge of the promised land. There were also giants before them. Most of the people were filled with fear, but a man by the name of Caleb spoke as one who was ready to rise to the occasion.

"But Caleb tried to quiet the people as they stood before Moses. “Let’s go at once to take the land,” he said. “We can certainly conquer it!”" - Numbers 13:30 (NLT)

Today, may you go at once and take the land God has set before you, because in God’s power you can certainly conquer it!
