Sweet Memories of Gruning’s in Caldwell

Do you remember Gruning’s Ice Cream and Candies on Bloomfield Ave?  Gruning's is no more, but if you lived in Caldwell when it was here, chances are the name brings back sweet memories.

Al and Ruth Nehaus, pictured here in Gene Collerd's photograph, were the proprietors of Gruning’s in its heyday .

Al was famous for his chocolate bunnies, eggs, and other Easter delicacies.  He made them in his basement with German molds that he brought to this country.
