Two West Essex Musicians Selected for All-State Instrumental Groups

Freshman Michael Wang, a cellist, and 8th-grader Joshua Kraser, a bassist, will represent the school district in All-State.

freshman Michael Wang has been selected to perform with the New Jersey All-State Orchestra in the fall. In February, Michael, a resident of North Caldwell, performed with the New Jersey Northern Region Orchestra at Sparta High School. Wang, a cellist, is ranked among the top 16 high school cello students in northern New Jersey. The All-State Orchestra rehearses in Atlantic City during the November teachers' convention in Atlantic City and then performs concerts at the convention and later in November at NJPAC in Newark.

Joshua Krasner, an eighth grade bass player from Roseland at the, successfully auditioned for the New Jersey All-State Intermediate Orchestra. Joshua recently performed with the New Jersey Region 1 Middle School Orchestra on March 4. The audition process is highly competitive and intended to select the top bass students in New Jersey.

"This is the elite orchestral performing group in the state and represents the highest level of achievement of middle school student musicians," said West Essex Orchestra Director Alex Soares.
