West Essex AP Art History Students Participate in "Mural Madness"
Art history students learned the pressures of being artists.
art history students learned the pressures of being artists with a deadline as they spent last Friday creating murals in the high school hallways based on famous works of art they selected.
Fifty-four students participated in “Masterpiece Mural Madness.” Students formed groups in advance and selected works of art that they wanted to recreate on their mural. Works of art chosen include Andy Warhol’s “Elephant,” Frida Kahlo’s self-portrait and Hokusai’s “The Wave” were just some of the famous works of art recreated at the high school in a few hours and then hung in the cafeteria.
Faculty were asked to vote for their favorites Friday. The winning mural was Andy Warhol's "The Elephant," created by Devon Gardner, Ciku Wathika, Emma Alscher and Roma Shah.
