West Essex Art Club Creates Holiday Mural
West Essex High School Art Club creates Peanuts holiday mural.
The West Essex High School Art Club used pastels and battery-operated LED lights to create this colorful Charlie Brown Christmas scene. Art Club members worked on the mural after school for a few days. It will be displayed for the Dec. 14th high school winter concert and senior citizen breakfast.
"It's team work," said Kevin Myslak of Roseland. "Different people of all different artistic abilities can come together to do a big project."
"Everybody loves Charlie Brown," said Grace Barretti of Essex Fells, a senior. "It was a lot of fun making the mural."

Art teacher and Art Club advisor Eileen Dormer said the art club does a holiday mural every year. "For a number of years, we have done something sophisticated," she said. "Last year we did Rockefeller Center. I thought it would be nice to do something nostalgic this year and allow for all artistic levels to participate."
Once the mural is completed in the art wing, it will be moved to the cafeteria where Santa Claus will sit in front of it, noted Meg Doelp of Essex Fells, who added that it is nice that people of all ages will recognize the Snoopy characters. "A lot more people will know what it is and it is so bright."
