West Essex Chemistry Students Celebrate Mole Day
West Essex Regional High School chemistry students created mole projects for Mole Day.
In celebration of Mole Day, October 23rd, West Essex Regional High School chemistry students created "mole" projects and brought them into their science classrooms Friday.
There was "Elmole" from Sesame Street, "Moleopoly," "Moleguls," skiers, and even this sandwich project, "That's a bunch of Mologna!" Other favorites were "Party Animole," "Molecano" "Pillsbury Mole Boy" and Ali Vizzone's "Molebile Home," which is so detailed that it even features working headlights. The mole projects were done by students in classes taught by Deanna Lippi, Denise D'Meo and Erica Elfenbein.
Mole Day is one of the most important days in chemistry, commemorating Avogrado's Numer (6.02 x 10 to the 23rd power), a basic measuring unit in chemistry. The day is observed by chemistry students throughout the world.

Chemistry teacher Denise D'Meo smiled as she looked at all of her students' projects on Friday "Every year, they get better and better!" The students oohed and ahhed Friday as they admired each other's projects and also visited adjacent classrooms."I wanted to do something with the Jets and I am a big Sanchez fan," said Drew Eisenhauer, as he displayed his "Mole Sanchez."
