West Essex Foundation for Education Hosts Annual “Trotting For Technology” 5K Run/Walk

Put on your sneakers and get ready to run/walk for the annual West Essex Foundation for Education (WEFE) “Trotting for Technology” 5K/Run Walk on the campus of the West Essex Regional School District in North Caldwell on Saturday, May 19.

All proceeds from the event will be directed towards enhancing technology at West Essex Middle School and West Essex High School. West Essex students, athletic teams, alumni, parents, area residents, as well as runners and 5K enthusiasts from surrounding towns will participate in the event. Last year, the event raised $20,819.08.

The event, which will take place rain or shine, will start at 9 a.m. Packet pick-up is from 7:30-8:30 a.m. Trophies will be awarded to first place overall winners and medals will be offered to first, second and third place winners in each age group/category: 10 & under, 11-14, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59 and 60+.

The West Essex Foundation for Education (WEFE) is a non-profit organization comprised of parents, educators, West Essex alumni and residents. Its mission is to enhance the quality of education in the West Essex Regional School District by providing financial support for innovative programs that enrich student achievement and promote excellence in education.

Pre-registration for the 5K is due May 1 and is $20 for West Essex students, alumni and West Essex residents and $25 for non-residents. Registration forms must be post-marked by May 1 to be considered pre-registered. Pre-registration ends May 1, but registrations will still be accepted at a “same day” registration fee of $30 for all runners and walkers.
