West Essex High School Celebrates Diversity With International Day

celebrated diversity April 27 with its Second Annual International Day.

The event kicked off with a beautiful “Parade of Nations” of students marching and waving flags. The more than two-hour assembly for freshman and sophomores featured performances by students and professionals.

Student performances included Gina Morello singing the National Anthem, Tara Jaison performing a Dance of India and the West Essex Women’s Choir singing a folk song from Scotland.

Groups included the Elbrus Dance Company celebrating the country of Kavkaz with beautiful costumes and Monitora Amazonas and Grupo Liberdade de Capoeira. West Essex Chinese World Language students performed a Chinese Dragon Dance performing Brazilian Martial Arts demonstrations. 

Students danced in the aisles of the auditorium. World Language students performed a Chinese Dragon Dance.
