West Essex High School Senior Stephen O'Neill Named Essex County's Scholar-Athlete of the Year.

It has been a very good couple weeks for West Essex Senior Stephen O’Neill.

First, he was selected as “.” Then, on Wednesday, Stephen was honored by the Essex County Football Coaches Association as ’s Scholar-Athlete of the Year Award winner.

Each Essex County football team has one recipient of this prestigious award, which recognizes a student for his achievements both on the field and in the classroom.

Stephen’s academic achievements include a 4.6 GPA and a perfect score on the ACT test. Steven was also football team captain in 2011, 1st Team SEC Conference Liberty Division in 2011, 1st Team All Essex County Coaches’ Association 2011, 1st Team All Essex County Star-Ledger 2011, 1st Team All-State Group 2011, team leader in rushing years (1,388) and team leader of touchdowns (21).
