West Essex Middle School Announces Students of the Month

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

West Essex Middle School Principal David Montgomery and West Essex Middle School Assistant Principal Lisa Tamburri have announced the four Students of the Month for May, 2013.

The 7^th Grade Students of the Month are:

Nicole Apicello

Nicole always gives 100 percent to everything. She participates in class, is always kind to teachers and peers and goes out of her way to help others when they need assistance. Nicole brings a smile to everyone whom she comes in contact with. She is a joy to have in class. Nicole is a resident of Roseland and enjoys participating in singing competitions.

                     Paul Filipow

 Paul is a hardworking student who always gives his best effort. He is polite and respectful of teachers and his peers. He is the first to offer assistance if a student needs help. Paul is a dedicated student who participates often in class and is enthusiastic about learning. He is a pleasure to have in class. Paul is a resident of Fairfield and enjoys spring track and basketball.

The 8^th Grade Students of the Month are:

Jesse Katz

Jesse is a hardworking student who always tries his best. He participates regularly in class and is enthusiastic about learning. He works well both with his peers and independently. His teachers can always count on him to provide the best effort and help other students in class. He is an absolute pleasure to have in class. Jesse is a resident of Fairfield. In his spare time, he enjoys
 playing games on the X-Box.

Sara Castro 

Sara is a hardworking and caring student who always puts forth her best effort. She assists other students in class who need extra help, and always does the right thing. Sara is a strong self-advocate. She lives in Roseland and enjoys spring track.

Every month, West Essex Middle School will select four students to be recognized and honored as the Students of the Month. Two students from each grade will be selected and the selection for each month will come from one academic team at each grade level. Cross-teamed students will not be neglected and will also be included in the selection process. 

To be selected as a Student of the Month, the middle school staff has decided to base candidates and selections on a review of the “whole” student not just the student with the best grades. Character traits such as honesty, perseverance, responsibility, integrity and leadership as well as a student’s academic qualities will be included in selecting students to be honored.

Honored students will have their pictures displayed in the middle school display case outside of the main office and on the middle school website. Honorees are also recognized during the morning announcements and receive a certificate recognizing their accomplishment, a “Student of the Month” locker magnet and a $5.00 Student Store Gift Card.
