West Essex Middle School Builder's Club Brightens Up Cafeteria With Fall Art

Middle School students painted and drew leaves, pumpkins, apples and other fall-themed pictures in the middle school cafeteria.

The windows in the West Essex Middle School Cafeteria are much brighter now that they are covered with fall-themed paintings and drawings created by the West Essex Middle School Builder’s Club. The club is composed of seventh and eighth grade students who participate in a variety of service activities to benefit their school and communities. The Caldwell West Essex Kiwanis Club sponsors the West Essex Middle School Builder’s Club/Key Club, which meets the third Thursday of the month during the school year.

Middle School Assistant Principal Lisa Tamburri approached club advisor Jo-Ann Crawford and Assistant Advisor Donna Mateyka and asked them if the club could brighten up the school cafeteria with a fall theme. As a result, the windows are full of colorful pumpkins, apples, trees, cornucopia and other fall-themed art.

Ms. Crawford said she showed the club members photos of Fall artwork from the Internet to inspire them, but all of the students created their original paintings and drawings and did not copy any from the Internet, she said.
