West Essex Middle School Students Selected for Region 1 Honors Music Groups
Three West Essex Middle School students were selected for Regional Music Groups.
Three students have been selected for three prestigious Region 1 music groups.
Eighth graders Matt DeFazio of Fairfield and Miranda Lichtenstein of Roseland have been selected for the North Jersey Region 1 Junior High School Honors Chorus. Matt, a tenor, will sing with the Soprano-Alto-Tenor-Bass group while Miranda, a Soprano 2, will perform with the Women's Chorus. Both will perform at the Region 1 Choral Concert March 18th at 3 p.m. at Parsippany High School.
"This is a highly competitive process, as students from all over North Jersey in grades 7, 8 and 9 audition for placement in either of the two prestigious Junior High School Chorus," said Middle School Choral Director Donna Mateyka.

Joshua Krasner, an eighth grade bass player from Roseland, successfully auditioned for the New Jersey Region 1 Middle School Orchestra. The audition process is highly competitive and intended to selected the top 10 bass students in northern New Jersey.
"Acceptance into this ensemble represents the highest level of achievement for middle school musicians," said West Essex Orchestra Director Alex Soares.

West Essex Middle School will host the group's concert March 4 at 3 p.m.
