County Bridge In West Caldwell Reopens After Repairs
A bridge in West Caldwell has been replaced and is now fully open to traffic, Essex County officials announced Tuesday.

WEST CALDWELL, NJ — Repairs to a small bridge in West Caldwell are complete, Essex County announced this week, and the bridge is fully open.
The Dougal Place Bridge, in a quiet area of West Caldwell near Fairfield Avenue and Mountain Ridge Country Club, was built over Kane Brook in 1972. It's approximately 30 feet long.
During a replacement project this year, only one lane of the bridge remained open.

County officials planned an announcement of the reopening on Monday, June 27. But because of rain, it was instead held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the site of the bridge. The address is 190 Fairfield Ave., West Caldwell.
On Tuesday, "Essex County Executive Joseph N. DiVincenzo, Jr. will announce that the replacement of the Dougal Place Bridge over the Kane Brook in West Caldwell is complete," said a release from the county. "The project is part of the county executive’s ongoing initiative to modernize roadway infrastructure and enhance safety for pedestrians and motorists."
