No Fire, Just a Bad Case of Burnt Toast

Why was the Caldwell Fire Department out on Bloomfield Avenue near Gould Place Thursday morning?

The responded to a call Thursday morning and found not a working fire, but a ruined meal. According to Sam Calamito of the Caldwell Fire Department, a resident of a second floor apartment at 386 Bloomfield Ave. burned bread in his oven and his kitchen filled with smoke. Calamito said the smoke had mostly cleared by the time the CVFD got there. He cautioned, "Burnt food creates a lot of smoke."
