Caldwell 22-Year-Old Cancer Victim Caroline Vandemark to be Honored by Hundreds at 5K Run/Walk on Saturday, September 13

Saturday, September 13, 2014 at 9:00 a.m. at St. Aloysius Parking Lot, 219 Bloomfield Avenue

The First Annual Caroline Fund 5K Run/Walk will be held in honor of the life of Caldwell resident Caroline Vandemark on Saturday, September 13, 2014 at 9:00 a.m. in the St. Aloysius Church parking lot, located at 219 Bloomfield Avenue in Caldwell, NJ. The starting line of the race will be on Hatfield Street. An awards ceremony headed by Caldwell Mayor Ann Dassing, who will also be running in the race, will be held at 10:30 a.m. in the church parking lot.

The race is held in honor of the life of Caroline Vandemark, 22-years-old. Caroline was diagnosed with glioblastoma brain cancer and fought a courageous battle, never losing the positive spirit for which she was known for. One year later on June 26, 2013, she lost her life surrounded by dozens of family and friends.

Her beloved doctors at Hackensack University Medical Center named the Caroline Vandemark Fund for Brain and Spine Tumor Research in her honor. Soon after, her family and friends established The Caroline Fund: A Non-Profit Corporation in order to host events and fundraisers like this one to benefit this fund and help to find a cure for brain and spine cancers. There are 300 people pre-registered to run or walk in the 5K race on Saturday. Representatives from The Caroline Fund are available for interview.
