Caldwell Area Artists Earn Photography Awards

ESSEX COUNTY, NJ — Essex County officials recently announced that eight residents – including artists from Verona, Cedar Grove, West Caldwell and North Caldwell - earned awards in the Annual Essex County Parks Photography Contest.

Winners were awarded in Adult and Youth categories and were recognized on Sept. 24 during the Annual Fall Family Festival at the Essex County Environmental Center in Roseland.

“We congratulate the winners of the Essex County Parks Photography Contest and thank all the contestants for sharing what they experienced in our historic Parks System,” Essex County Executive Joseph DiVincenzo Jr. said.

The artists, and the awards they received, are as follows:

Adult Category

• Jane Ballinger from Cedar Grove received first place in the Adult Category for “Verona Park – Bridge.”
• Janet Markman from West Caldwell received second place in the Adult Category for “Presby Iris Gardens.”
• Michael Mund from North Caldwell received third place in the Adult Category for “Verona Park – Bridge.”
• Miriam Jarney from Cranford received an honorable mention in the Adult Category for “Brookdale Park – Autumn.”

Youth Category

• Katie Hunt from Verona received first place in the Youth Category for “Verona Park – Boat House.”
• Brittany Hill from Newton received second place in the Youth Category for “Environmental Center – Swallowtail.”
• Brennan Cunningham from Roseland received third place in the Youth Category for “Turtle Back Zoo – Mountain Lion.”
• Gregory Hill from Newton received an honorable mention in the Youth Category for “Environmental Center – Flower.”

All photographs will be on display at the Essex County Environmental Center during September and October. Hours are Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Sponsoring the contest were the South Orange Frame Shop, Frames and Framers from Millburn, Signarama from Roseland, Livingston Camera, Millburn Frame Shop, Jerry’s Artist Outlet from West Orange, Jacklyn Kling from Montclair, REI in East Hanover and Watchung Books from Montclair.
