Caldwell Area Teacher Gets Own Radio Show
Contest winner will host own Saturday sports show on WFAN.
A West Essex High School teacher will get soon have a personal dream - to host his own radio show – come true.
Pat McGlynn, a teacher the high school, was named WFAN Fantasy Phenom for 2015. As part of the contest, McGlynn will get the chance to host his own radio show for one year on WFAN 101.9 FM / 660 AM, which will air on Saturdays from 1 to 3 a.m.
McGlynn will also receive a full scholarship to the Connecticut School of Broadcasting in Hackensack.

According to a release, McGlynn entered this contest for the past two years, but only made it to the semi-finals. McGlynn has been a sports announcer for West Essex, but has not done any other broadcasting.
McGlynn stated that he plans to take everything he learns from the broadcasting school and bring it back to West Essex.

“I’m still in shock that I won,” McGlynn stated. “Getting to meet the people who I listen to on the radio every day, for almost 25 years, was such a great experience. Winning the contest and having my own show on WFAN… it’s a dream come true.”
“I’m looking to take whatever I learn at school and at the station and bring that back to West Essex,” McGlynn added. “That includes what essential equipment we might need to purchase to get started to tips or tricks for beginners looking to get into the industry. I think the broadcasting field is an untapped resource here at West Essex. We have a strong journalism program and students who are entertaining in front of the camera. I hope to help them out in any way that I can.”
McGlynn is in his 10th year of teaching at WEHS, including five years as a classroom aide and five years teaching.
McGlynn grew up in West Caldwell and is a 1997 graduate of James Caldwell High School. He studied at Kutztown University in Pennsylvania and then received his associate’s degree in liberal arts from Essex County College and his bachelor’s degree in history from Montclair State University. He also holds a special education certificate from Bloomfield College.
He currently teaches media production and social studies, and lives in Totowa.
