Caldwell Area Welcomes New Companies: Colter and Peterson, Stone Systems
West Caldwell and Fairfield will soon have two new companies doing business in their communities. Find out why they moved to the area.

CALDWELL, NJ — The Caldwell area will soon welcome two new companies, according to reports: fabrication company Stone Systems and paper cutter/paper handling equipment distributer Colter & Peterson.
Just in time for its 85th year in business, Colter & Peterson – which describes itself as “North America’s largest independent distributor of paper cutters and paper handling equipment” – moved its corporate headquarters from Paterson to West Caldwell in late January.
Its new location is more than 50 percent larger and offers more amenities for both customers and employees, according to a company news release.

Company president Bruce Peterson said many man hours were expended since November preparing the new space, which will be on display to customers at an open house being planned for this spring.
“We still have more work to do but after being in the same building for so many years, it’s nice to have more room to work with,” Peterson said. “We have grown our business in recent years and everyone has dealt with cramped space for long enough.”

STONE SYSTEMS
In late February, real estate firm NAI James E. Hanson announced that its agents arranged a long-term, 33,000-square-foot lease to bring Stone Systems of NJ to 5 Washington Avenue in Fairfield.
According to NAI:
“Originally based in Passaic, Stone Systems of NJ, a member of the national network of commonly owned stone fabrication shops making up Stone Systems, was seeking to relocate to a better located and more attractive property. The 33,000-square-foot warehouse/flex space in Fairfield offered exactly the type of space Stone Systems of NJ was seeking. With 26,588 square feet of warehouse space and 6,412 square feet of office space, two loading docks and one drive-in, the property provides the company with the flexibility needed to efficiently run and grow every facet of its stone fabrication business from sales to final product distribution.”
