CALDWELL, NJ — Art is more than just the final product; it’s also a form of self-expression.

On Thursday, Sept. 8, almost two dozen individuals from The Center for Family Support (CFS), a nonprofit that provides support and assistance to individuals with developmental and related disabilities, will host an art opening at The Caldwell Public Library from 6 to 8 p.m.

The free event will be open to the public and light refreshments will be served, organizers stated.

“The art show itself focuses on the artists using art materials for the purpose of self-expression, therefore we more focused on the process of art making,” CFS Art Therapist Christina Masur explained.

“I’m so proud of the participants’ hard work,” Masur said. “Their art is truly an extension of themselves as individuals.”

The show will be on display throughout the month of September and can be viewed during Caldwell Public Library regular business hours. There will be over 30 works of art on display, encompassing a variety of mixed media pieces including watercolor, tempera, acrylic, sculpture, and collage. Descriptions about the artists’ work and their art making process will be shown with each piece. Additionally, the participants have prepared statements about their own work that will also be displayed next to their pieces so viewers can gain further understanding of their art process as well as their inspiration for each piece.
