Caldwell Bodybuilder Captures N.J. Prize, Flexing Way Into Professional Ranks
Caldwell's Tyler Cohen flexed his way to victory at the 2016 NJ State Open.

CALDWELL, NJ — A Caldwell bodybuilder is flexing his way into the professional bodybuilding ranks, but it’s a recent performance in front of family and friends that ranks as his “most special” to date.
Earlier this month, Tyler Cohen, 22 of Caldwell, competed in New Jersey State Open Championships in Men's Bodybuilding at Kean University, capturing first place in the men's Heavyweight Division and winning the overall Men's Bodybuilding championship.
Cohen told Patch that it felt “absolutely incredible” to win the title because this was his second try.

“Last year I won my class but did not win the overall,” Cohen said. “This year I had to requalify to compete at the North American Championships to hopefully earn my pro card and I chose this show to earn my qualification.”
But what made the win so special was the 15 family members and friends who showed up to watch him compete, Cohen said.

“This was the happiest I have ever been on a bodybuilding stage so far,” he told Patch.
When asked, Cohen said that he didn’t have any secrets to bulking up except for working hard.
“You have to train hard and heavy and eat a lot of clean calories to build clean mass, and during a prep for a show, make sure to follow your diet and stay on course,” Cohen said.
